An afternoon in Paradise

I’ll put a spell on you; you’ll fall asleep.
I’ll put a spell on you,
and when I wake you I’ll be the first thing you see,
and you’ll realise that you love me.

I’ll let you into a secret. You don’t need to spend thousands of real life [insert your currency here] to have a holiday. You just need to spend L$15,000. (Or, if you were savvy and timely, you could’ve spent half that.)

This is Bali, the latest prefab by reBourne. For one day only (the day it was released) it was half price, both inworld and on Marketplace, as are all reBourne new releases. And oh god, what a glorious bargain that was. Who needs a holiday in RL when you’ve got this beauty rezzed in SL?

I’ve got the skybox version rezzed, because I love the scenery options, but it also comes with a ground version (no surround) and – even if you rez the skybox version with surround, you can switch it off. My favourite surround is Far, with its high tumbling waterfall and distant sunset. That’s the one I’m showing in these images. (Most of the house images are taken under Nam’s Optimal Skin & Prim Windlight preset, but the pics of me and Daros are taken under Nam’s Robots of Dawn preset – hence the golden glow.)

This place is paradise in a box. A beautiful, airy mesh house with open dining and bathing areas. It includes a pool with multiple swimming and inner tube animations, a hammock, loungers, couches… the list goes on.

This is the furnished house, but I’ve added a few touches from the new Genre event. In the image below, the two grinder wheels and the bowl of balls are from Shai at Genre.

There are built-in poses everywhere in this building. You won’t even be able to have a shower without your partner molesting you (as I can happily attest, and no, you’re not seeing the pictures of that!).

Lotus stone basin in the above image from Fuubutsu-Dou at Genre.

The bed (No Copy, so make sure you don’t lose it!) comes with a full set of animations (some gorgeous intimate cuddles as well as adult animations). Chinese armoire from Shai at Genre. Side tables by Mirage at Genre.

I added this lovely meditation set, from Roawenwood at Genre, to the other main room. Multiple meditation poses in the cushion, and a working (loud!) gong; this gives me a place to sit and contemplate, as I try to meditate twice a day (once on waking and once later in the day, before bed).

Another view of the bed.

The open-air bathing and spa area.

Ahhhh :-)

Even more ‘ahhhhh’ ;-)

Down a bit… right a bit… THERE! OMGyeeeeeahhhh *blissful whine*

Bali on Marketplace

Genre event: Eastern Asia theme

Decor purchases of the week

This week’s decor purchases were numerous, but the standout ones for me came from the Kastle Rock Arabian Market. I spotted the table first of all, on the L$55 Thursday blog (tbh, it was the only thing at that event worth buying this week. Although female avatars may have found something to their tastes, there’s precious little to appeal to anything but the most ‘normo’ male avatar, which Skell certainly isn’t).

However, I’m starting this post with this little set of drawers and the vase, in matching distressed turquoise/gold textures. This colourway always draws my eye, and these two will be finding a home in our airy beach hacienda before the day is out.

Both drawers and vase can be found in the centre of this lovely little market. I can’t wait to see if more vendors move in, because this style of furniture has always appealed to me (which reminds me: I’m overdue a visit to Melino Style). The vase is currently just L$55 at the right side of the market as you walk in, but this is a limited-time offer. Normal price is L$79, which is still a bargain for such a beautifully-textured item.

Dig a little deeper, though, and you’ll find some breathtaking artwork in a large store section at the back of the market. Again, it was the colours that drew me. This will be finding a home in our stunning Ca’Baratto build from POST. The accent table can currently be purchased for L$60 (same location as the vase) as part of My 60L Secret (normal price is L$95). The artwork is priced at L$125. On all items there are many more colour and design options to be found.

Overall view of the market. The artwork is in the store to the right, at the back:

Decor purchases of the week

I have more furniture and other decor than I know what to do with. Daros and I have multiple homes and skyboxes, spread across two locations. Everything from a steampunk tower rooted to the ground, to a beach hacienda flung way up in the air: you name it, we live in it.

This week’s star decor purchases both came within the last two days. In fact, I bought one just a few minutes ago.

This is the Woodbridge Reclaimed Work Table, by Senzafine. With an 8-prim land impact, it can be rezzed as shown here, or you can click any of the drawers open. This was the purchase of a few minutes ago, at just L$130, and worth every penny. Cent. Whatever. (Is there a smaller denomination than the Linden Dollar? The Linden Cent, maybe?)

(Image shown with Advanced Lighting enabled. There is a great shadow effect under the table, but I’ve got extra shadows enabled for these pics.)

And the second purchase, made yesterday at the opening of this week’s SL Fashion Week event : the Fashion Couch (antique version) by Apple Fall. Just look at that gorgeous leather texture! This has a 7-prim land impact and comes packed with solo and couples poses and animations. The other texture designs can be seen in this image on the Apple Fall Flickr photostream. Price? Just L$250. Can’t go wrong with that ;-)
